Get your violins out Make room for empathy Break all cynical bones in your body Reset them all for me... Elephants in the room are reaching to the knife It wasn’t particularly nice being cut out of your life... You said you would never hear a happy song from me I maintain that you were never listening properly... (You’re) vicariously feeling flames that you have fanned Do I stand in the pillory with holes for my head and hands? I take from invisible matter I conjure the waves In resolution and catharsis I’m forever saved... Judges judge you Counsellors counsel Teachers teach Come and do the job that you signed up for Make your mind up Please You once called me ‘famalam’ now I do not know where I stand Do I stand in the pillory with holes for my head and hands? You said you would never hear a happy song from me I maintain that you were never listening properly Hope you enjoy not-so-cryptic messages from the waves... I’ll be breathing ions from the water I think I’ll be okay...

Matilda 03:19
She came to my house to talk to my parents I’d never known love before she fought my corner She said that I was a magnificent child I knew that she needed me... I will move walls and overturn tables I don't even need you to believe I am able The teacher will come when the pupil is dilated She didn’t believe me... She didn’t believe that I will claim your inheritance back Make the badness disappear She didn’t believe me... I watch with bated breath As events unravel I knew that she needed me... I’ll harness the pain I’ll channel the hatred I’ll empty all of myself to be liberated If they dare touch a hair on your head I’ll rain down fire and sulphur The mentor will arrive when the student is ready The teacher will come when the pupil is dilated

about

‘Song For The Waves’ and ‘Matilda’ is Girl From Winter Jargon's Limited Edition Double A Sided Single originally released with Butterfly Effect Label (UK) on lathe-cut, 7" Vinyl.

Containing just over 100 stems per song, both tracks were recorded by Girl From Winter Jargon, then mixed with the assistance of Rob Irish - who also worked on the artist’s debut single, 'Without Apology.'

Song For The Waves is about social ghosting, disillusionment and the healing power of music. The song is driven by hard-panned, squealing guitars, a slap-bassline and theatrical vocals, juxtaposed by the sounds of smashing crockery, and an eerie, operatic choir. The words themselves are a “thank you” to the energy transference made possible by waves. (Sound waves, radio waves and ocean waves.)

Matilda is named after and loosely inspired by characters in the children’s book by Roald Dahl; a ballad about loyalty, love and advocacy. Centred around chugging rhythms and a melodic vocal, the song gradually builds to a climax of guitar arpeggios and rich harmonies.
